Chicago was a display typeface produced by the Fonderie Turlot, one of the most storied Parisian type houses of the 19th century.
Drama
Alfred Turlot bought his foundry around 1873, building it on the accumulated type funds of earlier houses including those of Torey, the Virey brothers, Duget and Laurent. By the time Chicago appeared around 1905, Turlot had consolidated several foundries under its roof, including the renowned Derriey, Virey frères, Marcellin-Legrand, Dumeil and Colson collections.
